First of all, let me say I absolutely love this video/photo editing suite. It has a great price point while offering some very advance features seen in much more expensive suites from Adobe.

I am a long time Photoshop user (I went to school for Graphic design and own a side business). Photoshop is a very very expensive software suite for the home user and even for small businesses. The reason why I decided to do a review of this product was because I was curious if Corel has caught up to Photoshop. Many, many years ago I used Corel and found it abysmal compared to Photoshop. At the time, Photoshop was far ahead of the competition. But today, having finally trying out Corel again I have to say it has caught up greatly. Photoshop is sort of the be-all-end-all solution, with features that meet the needs of every professionals in every sector of visual arts business-photography, graphic design, animation, industrial design, etc. I do not know of a single photoshop user that uses every feature. The fact that Photoshop has all of them simply widens their reach across the industry. Anyway, my point is while Corel may not be as comprehensive as Photoshop, it has more than enough to do pretty much anything you need, be it to edit bitmaps for 3D texture maps, retouching your photos, or doing full compositing for movie poster designs.

I feel like this suite has so much to offer I've barely even scratched the surface of what all it can do. I already had the PaintShop Pro X5 and this X6 version has some great improvements. There are plenty of new, fun photo editing devises in this version but the most noticeable and welcome improvement for me was that the update seems to have increased memory because it certainly works faster and can handle having more pictures open and in the editing process at once. With the old version if you had too many open the software slowed down and sometimes even crashed, but on version X6 that problem has been corrected. I don't do as much video editing so I haven't done all that much with VideoStudio but it's more than adequate for my (and the average user's) needs.
