We've seen J.R. Short at Portraits Plus for our family photos several times a year since our twin daughters were only four months old. We've always had a good experience, and usually a great one. J.R. is incredibly comfortable with children and his studio is set up to make them comfortable, too.
Now that our twins are older they can really appreciate the children's table and chairs set up in the waiting/viewing room. This area has lots of puzzle toys and building blocks for the littles to play with while parents make decisions about which pictures to have printed. That feature of the studio is perfect for those of us who live out of the area, because the pictures can often be printed, and the cd made, the same day they've been taken.
We have never had trouble making appointments and at least a few times J.R. has been kind enough to stay late on a Saturday when our portrait shoot ran a little after closing time. On one occasion he even called in a part-time assistant to take our portraits because we had family in town just when he was away on vacation. The comfortable location helped my kids to stay relaxed, even though they had a new photographer.
Portraits Plus is in a quiet shopping center with plenty of parking and is easy to find. The only inconvenience we've ever faced has come from the less than stellar shared bathrooms in the hallway. But unless you, like me, are trying to change two sets of diapers, it's hardly an issue.
After so many visits I can strongly recommend Portraits Plus as the best studio we've been to with our children. The people are friendly, the location is comfortable for children, and the portraits are lovely.
